Terms of Service
Last updated: 10 September 2026
1. Who this agreement is with
Steer Prep is operated by [registered legal name], a [entity type] formed in [state]. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean that company, and “you” means the person using the service.
Making an account, or using any part of steerprep.com or app.steerprep.com, means agreeing to what is written here. If you do not agree with it, do not make an account.
2. What the service is
Steer Prep gives you practice questions one at a time and decides which one to give you next from how you have answered the ones before it. That is the whole of it. We are a study tool, not a tutor, not a school, and not an advisor on where to apply or what score to aim for.
3. Who may use it
You need an account, and an account needs an email address you can receive mail at.
If you are under 18, you may use Steer Prep with the knowledge and permission of a parent or guardian, and by making an account you are confirming that you have it. [Whether an account may be opened by a child under 13, and if so how a parent's consent is obtained and recorded, has to be decided before this sentence can be finished. United States federal law sets specific requirements for that age group and they are not satisfied by a checkbox.]
4. Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping your password to yourself. Accounts are personal. Sharing one, or letting somebody else practise under your name, makes the thing the service is built on, a record of what you in particular find hard, describe somebody who is not you.
Tell us if you think somebody else has got into your account, at [address for account and security enquiries].
5. What it costs
Steer Prep is free to use at the time of writing. There is no plan to choose, no card to enter, and no trial that turns into a charge. If that changes, the terms of any paid plan will be set out here before anybody is asked to pay, and an existing account will not start being billed for what it already had for nothing.
6. The questions, and who owns what
The questions, explanations, figures and the software around them are ours, or are used under a licence held by us, and are protected by copyright. You may use them to study. You may not copy them out, republish them, sell them, feed them to another service, or use them to build a competing product.
Your practice history is yours. Section 9 of the Privacy Policy says how to get rid of it.
7. What we do not promise
No study tool can promise a score, and this one does not. What you get out of Steer Prep depends on how much you use it and on a great deal that happens nowhere near it. We make no representation or guarantee about any test result, any admission, or any scholarship.
We also do not promise the service is always available. It is a small operation, it is occasionally down, and questions are added and corrected as we find things wrong with them.
8. Fair use of the service
Do not attempt to break into any part of the system, extract the question bank in bulk, automate access, interfere with anybody else's use of it, or use the service to break the law. We may suspend or close an account that does any of that, and we will say why.
9. Ending it
You may stop using Steer Prep at any time, and you may clear your practice history from the app whenever you like. To close an account entirely, write to [address for account and security enquiries].
We may close an account that breaks section 8, or stop offering the service altogether. If the service is being shut down we will give notice by email to the address on the account.
10. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of Steer Prep, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us, which at present is nothing. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms change as the service does. The date at the top says when they last did. Where a change materially affects an existing account, notice goes to the email address on it rather than only appearing here.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [state], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute belongs to the courts sitting in [county and state].
13. Getting in touch
Questions about these terms go to [address for legal enquiries].
